Congressman Poe Stands with Troops
on Veto
of Iraq Supplemental Bill

WASHINGTON, DC Congressman Ted Poe (TX-02) issued the following statement in regards to President Bushs veto of the Iraq Supplemental Bill:

I support the vetoing this bill. Our troops on the ground in Iraq need the full support of their government and passing legislation that limits their funding and sets deadlines for retreat does not do that. Its absurd for Congress to give a date to retreat from Iraq. Never in the history of the world has any military announced to the enemy when they are leaving. I am optimistic that Congress will quickly draft a spending bill that funds our troops and deals directly with the war in Iraq - not one loaded with unrelated pork.
